Frequently Asked Questions
Policies
Fear Free Grooming
Contoured Canine Dog Grooming will follow Fear Free principles & procedures. This may require services to be modified, delayed, omitted, or stopped based on the level of fear, anxiety, or stress of the pet. This will be done at the groomer’s discretion.
Fleas & Ticks
Contoured Canine Dog Grooming will not knowingly accept pets with fleas or large numbers of ticks. If ticks are found, they will be removed and subject to an additional fee. If fleas are found, services will end immediately and subject to an additional fee. If the presence of fleas or ticks are found to have been purposefully hidden by the client, services will no longer be available.
Grooming Schedules
Depending on the pet’s coat, lifestyle, breed/mix, age, size, health/behavior, and other factors, a specific schedule may be required. If the client is unable to commit to a particular schedule, the groom may be modified in order to find a mutually beneficial solution. Refusal to cooperate will result in services being no longer available.
Matting
Matting will not be brushed out and will be removed by clipping or shaving. The price will increase according to the severity & extent of the matting and its removal. The client will be notified before any extensive matting removal. Refusal to consent to this removal will result in services being immediately discontinued and the full anticipated cost of the service will be due.
New Client Deposit
New grooming clients will be subject to a deposit to secure their first appointment. The deposit will be $110 or the projected cost of the service, whichever is less. The deposit will be rolled into the cost of the first appointment. If rescheduled or cancelled less than 48 hours in advance of the first appointment, the original deposit will be forfeit and a new one will be necessary upon rescheduling.
Payment
Payment for services will be due upon pick-up. Accepted methods of payment include cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp.
Pick-Up Window
Pets must be picked up within 30 minutes of the completion of services. If foreseen alternative arrangements must be made, Contoured Canine Dog Grooming should be notified 48 hours or more ahead of the scheduled appointment. Clients will be notified by the groomer at least 30 minutes before the service is completed, and clients may request an earlier notification as needed.
Pre-Existing Conditions
The grooming process may reveal or exacerbate existing health or behavioral issues during or after the service. These may include, but are not limited to, fear/anxiety/stress, aggression, skin conditions, allergies, osteoarthritis, autoimmune conditions, or cardiovascular conditions. The exacerbation of these issues could result in injury, illness, or death. The client agrees not to hold Contoured Canine Dog Grooming liable in absence of gross negligence. The groomer will take every possible precaution to minimize risk to the pet.
Any known health or behavioral issues (including a bite history) must be disclosed to Contoured Canine Dog Grooming prior to the performance of grooming services. If any of these issues are found to have been knowingly minimized or obscured, grooming services will no longer be available.
Pricing & Estimates
Final pricing will not be set until the completion of the service, as it is influenced by the conditions discovered and addressed during the groom. Quotes may be provided upon request, but are not a guarantee of the final price.
Rescheduling, Cancellations, & No Shows
Appointments must be rescheduled or canceled no later than 48 hours before the pet’s appointment. Failure to do so, or not appearing for the appointment ("no show"), will result in a cancellation fee of $110 or the cost of the service, whichever is less. Tardiness of 15 minutes or greater may result in modification of services to fit any remaining time or be treated as a late cancellation. The fee must be paid before future services are rendered. Repeated late cancellations and/or no shows will require a deposit to book future appointments.
Vaccinations
All pets should have current rabies and distemper/parvovirus. Bordetella and canine influenza vaccinations may also periodically be required. Please provide supporting documentation as proof. If your dog is unable to receive one or more of these vaccinations for medical reasons, please provide proper documentation and notify Contoured Canine Dog Grooming before scheduling your pet’s appointment.
