About the Groomer

Hi, I'm Katie Cecilio, owner and groomer of Contoured Canine Dog Grooming!
For as long as I can remember, dogs have been my passion. From an early age, I immersed myself in learning about breeds, behavior, training, and canine care, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to helping dogs look and feel their best.
I began my journey in professional grooming as a grooming assistant in 2013 before starting my formal grooming training in 2015. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work in salon, mobile, house-call, and veterinary grooming, caring for dogs of all breeds, coat types, ages, and temperaments. Each experience has shaped my approach and reinforced the importance of providing thoughtful, individualized care for every dog. I continued learning and growing as a professional via trade shows, seminars, and private lessons.
In 2018, I welcomed my first Bedlington Terrier to my family and became involved in the world of conformation dog shows & sports. Studying breed standards and presentation gave me an even deeper appreciation for canine structure, coat preservation, and the artistry of grooming. Whether your dog is a beloved family companion or a carefully maintained show prospect, I believe every groom should complement their natural qualities while supporting the health and integrity of their coat.
My commitment to continuing education led me to become Fear Free Certified in 2022. This certification strengthened my understanding of low-stress handling and reinforced a philosophy I've always believed in: grooming should be built on patience, trust, and respect. Every dog deserves to feel safe, understood, and cared for throughout the grooming process.
At Contoured Canine Dog Grooming, appointments are intentionally one-on-one, allowing me to focus entirely on your dog's comfort and individual needs. My goal is to provide a calm, personalized experience where quality is never rushed, relationships are built over time, and every dog leaves looking beautiful, feeling comfortable, and eager to come back.
When I'm away from the grooming table, life is still all about animals! I share my home with five Bedlington Terriers and two cats, who keep me busy and continually remind me why I love what I do. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a concentration in Inequality & Social Change from George Mason University. In my free time, you'll often find me watching horror films, reading manga, enjoying anime, or working on my latest cosplay project.
